• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Plesk on a AD Member Server

New Pleskian
Hi All,
In some forum threads I've read that plesk for windows can not work on a domain controller, but I couldn't find any information whether it can be installed on a AD Member server so I decided to give it a try.
Everything seems to be working except the FTP service. We get : "530 The error is user is not able to login." There is no description in FTP logs, only this error. I have cloned the machine and took it out of the AD, then the FTP service started to work. I'd like to use the server as a AD Member for ease of management, so my question is, is there a way to make FTP service work in this setup?
I am already aware of the knowledgebase articles :
http://kb.odin.com/en/549
http://kb.odin.com/en/124094
But it is quite clear that my setup is not defected from issues told in these articles but the issue is the server being a AD member.

Thanks to anyone who may help.

Hi,

What FTP details you are using. Is this default plesk user or you created any custom FTP in the plesk that you are using?

Hi,
actually I have tried both of them, both thesystem user and the additional ftp account gaved the same error. According to plesk documentation, the server can't be DC but there is no mentioning about the AD Member servers.
