• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

I connected and was able to telnet and traceroute to ka.swsoft.com without any issues.

What is the issue here and how can I get more information to resolve this?

Plesk key update deferral notification

There were problems while trying to update your Plesk key.Plesk will continue trying. Details: Licensing Server Unreachable: Unable to connect with licensing server. Please make sure that your network allows communication to ka.swsoft.com:5224.For more details check system help pages.

Identical issue

I am seeing exactly the same, on a server hosted by 1&1 Internet. I can also login to the server, ping the swsoft server etc.

Trying to login to Plesk on my server just gives "Access Denied".

I have the same problem, but I can ping ka.swsoft. There is no firewall and it was working OK until recently.

Here are the results according to http://kb.swsoft.com/en/808 :
doctoras2:~# nmap -P0 -p5224 ka.swsoft.com

Could this be a problem a problem from swsoft's side?

Mine is fixed - don't know how

My Plesk suddenly started working again - no changes by me, nothing passed on by 1&1 support. It just let me log in and said I was working in the grace period, and to click retrieve keys. I did this and everything seems fine again.
Sorry I have no help to pass on to others.

I stopped receiving the emails a couple of days ago. I was not locked out of plesk at any time but still do not understand what this means and how to go about resolving it if it happens yet again.

Yesterday, I had the same issue...

There were problems while trying to update your Plesk key.
Plesk will continue trying.
Details:

Licensing Server Unreachable: Unable to connect with licensing server.
Please make sure that your network allows communication to ka.swsoft.com:5224.
For more details check system help pages.

Yeap, it is now solved for me too. I guess it was just a false alarm caused by a temporary error on swsoft's server.

They have not fixed it for all of us.

I'm in the same boat... my server is just a week old and I just did an update to 8.3 and now I'm running into the same problem:

Downloading the file PSA_8.3.0/plesk_getkeyinfo.sh: 100% done.
Exchanging information with licensing server.base
Ask KA server for key update: product=PleskLogin current key number=PLSK<deleted by me> to version=1.0.0
Warning: your license key for the base component cannot be upgraded.
ERROR: Failed to check whether a new license key is available.
The installation will not continue.
Not all packages were installed.
Please, contact product technical support.

Using a VPS from godaddy, their tech support say it's not their problem.

Additional error emails as folloes:
There were problems while trying to update your Plesk key.
Plesk will continue trying.
Details:

Licensing Server Unreachable: Unable to connect with licensing server.

http://kb.swsoft.com/en/808 talks about it, but the solution does not apply.

I saw other psople complaining about the same thing on other parts of this forum as well. There's another thread with folks complaining about this issue.

This one worked for me: http://kb.swsoft.com/en/3543 i can do updates now, but: when i open updater page on plesk panel, plesk says "Updating or adding new components" but there is no updating operation?

Uhg. As usual i went to see if there was any updates for plesk since i updated to 3.0 on dec 24th.
Theres a base and updater update avalable but an error says:

Error: Installation could not be started: Failed to check whether a new license key is available.
The installation will not continue.
Not all packages were installed.
Please, contact product technical support..

In License Management its says:

Next license key update Jan 30, 2008
Key expiration date Feb 9, 2008
The expiration date will be automatically extended on Jan 30, 2008. For the automatic update you must allow connections to ka.swsoft.com. For more information, refer to the following help topic.

Retrieve Keys says:

Server response: License key PLSK.00599950.0002 is up-to-date.

Any ideas on whats wrong or what to do?
Ide wouldnt want to be locked out of my plesk admin panel or have my sites locked.

Swsoft really needs to react to this issue. Someone dropped the ball on a port error and things needs to be fixed.

Same Problem.

Error: Installation could not be started: Failed to check whether a new license key is available.
The installation will not continue.
Not all packages were installed.
Please, contact product technical support..

Come on SW.... we need this fixed!

Exact same issue with me.

1and1 fixed my prior issue (query failed: Table 'psa.SiteAppPackages' doesn't exist), but now we have this exact same issue.

After looking, its a problem in autoinstaller...also tried KB3543 from swsoft with no luck...

KB3543 worked for me

I had exactly the same issues as above, but manually downloading and installing the latest plesk updater as outlined in KB3543 DID work for me, so it is definitely worth a try first.

I follwed the instructions in KB 353 and it looks like the updates were installed but i still get the message "Plesk key update deferral notification" every hour.
There is fix for this for Windows version here http://kb.swsoft.com/en/3573 but i cant seem to find a linux equivalent.
Any ideas?

KB3543

Quick and dirty,
1.goto http://www.parallels.com/en/download/plesk83/ (assuming your using v.8.3)
2.download the autoinstaller to your server, I saved mine in /home
3.fire this command as root (in the same dir as step 2)$> chmod +x autoinstaller
4.run the autoinstaller$> ./autoinstaller

go through all the setup screens, should install without problem, and license error should be gone too.

http://kb.swsoft.com/en/3543 worked for me.

It didn't at first, because I missed the fact that you had to basically copy it (and change permissions) twice, once to /usr/local/psa/bin and once to /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin

oops...
