problem with password-protected folders - ?

I'm having a problem with the compability of a Plesk 7.6.1 control panel feature with the newest version of Internet Explorer (version 7.0.5730.11)...

I've set up a password-protected directory (folder), and when a user attempts to access that from my web site, I want a realm access text to be displayed (in the box that prompts for userID and passcode).

Currently (ONLY when using the newest version of Internet Explorer) I have this problem...

When a user attempts to access the password-protected directory from the web, he/she gets a box (where you enter the userID/passcode) that reads:

"The server [MY WEB DOMIAN] at Welcome to [REALM ACCESS TEXT] requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection)."

I really just want it to say, "Welcome to [REALM ACCESS TEXT]" -- without the stuff at the beginning that makes it sound strange...and, preferably, without the warning message that comes up...and will probably scare a lot of people off.

This problem does NOT occur with the old version of Internet Explorer...so it's obviously a compatibility problem with the newer version. I don't want people to begin to run into this problem every time they attempt to access the password-protected areas of my site....so I'm wondering...Is there a fix in progress for this, or could one be developed? I'd appreciate any update that anyone can give...Thanks!
