qmail relay - settings with plesk dont work

Hi,

whatever i use in plesk - server -mail for the relay settings
open, closed, auth with seems to have no effect.
even when its marked as closed i can send mail via it.
if set to auth-smtp i can connect to the smtp server either with our without username-password.
any ideas?
plesk 7.5.1 on FC2
