  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

qmail send email from specific IP

Hi Guys,

I have a machine setup running linux 9.2.1. The machine has a physical ip of 212.xxx and various virtual ips for example 87.xxx, my sites ip is 87.xxx. However qmail is sending all mail from the server via the 212.xxx ip. Can anyone tell me how I can set qmail to send emails for example shop.com 87.xxx from the ip address the site is actually using. I need to set a reverse dns and unfortunently the A record does not match currently.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have seen various posts about patches for qmail however I am not 100% about this.

Hi Daniel,

I think you're approaching this from a direction that requires more work for you. So long as your base IP (outgoing IP) has a valid reverse DNS with matching A record and this is the server hostname it doesn't matter that its not the same as the from address for the emails its sending.

Alternatively you can just change the entire outgoing IP for the server to match the inbound IP for that domain.

Paul.

Paul,

Thanks for your reply. I have already thought about this however it then presents two issues:

1. physical interface is 212.xxx and site is on 87.xxx with an ssl certificate
2. All mail server traffic then has the reverse dns of one of my sites.

It is a option though.

Daniel
