  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

RFC 2142 and Plesk: Auto-define abuse@<domain> for every domain

B_P

Regular Pleskian
Dear all,

RFC 2142 (https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2142.txt) requires the existence of abuse@<top-level-domain> addresses. So far, I cannot see that this is implemented when setting up domains with Plesk.
However, postmaster@<top-level-domain> is automatically setup as requested by RFC 822. Is there any plan to also implement the requirement of RFC 2142?

Hello,

These e-mails are created by Postfix, not Plesk during domain creation.

The issue reported is a Feature Request. It cannot be fixed without the source code interference. Please provide your suggestion for new functionality on User Voice:

https://plesk.uservoice.com/forums/184549-feature-suggestions

The top-ranked suggestions are likely to be included in the next versions of Plesk.

@B_P and @Kate,

The [email protected] and/or [email protected] is not something that should be dealt with by Plesk and/or by mail servers, associated with Plesk.

The RFCs in question only require ONE postmaster/abuse mailaddress to be existent: it is not required to have them on every domain!

In essence, creation of postmaster/abuse addresses at domain creation would lead to multiple addresses and, more important, the sysadmin not receiving them, if he is not the owner of the subscription associated with the domain.

In short, a bad idea and very bad implementation of the concerning RFCs, when allowing automatic postmaster/abuse address creation whenever a domain is created.

Regards....
