Resolved Safe way to change MySQL 5.7 to MariaDB 10.1 Ubuntu

Søren

New Pleskian
Hi,

I am used to use MariaDB for all my server setups, but im not sure how to install MariaDB 10.1 in a safe way for Plesk.

All my optimization configs are based on MariaDB, and i would like to stay on that version.

I found the guide How to install MariaDB in Ubuntu 16.04

Thats fine and all that, but the issue is there is no mention about backup before doing this, and the older backup ways i found for terminal and plesk dos not work.

So i hope some one can point me in the right direction.

Decided to reinstall the system and do a MariaDB installation before installing Plesk Onyx that worked out fine.

Yes, you have to install mariadb-server before Plesk Onyx, and to not set any root passord before the installation , plesk will do it.
