We have several servers that are running Linux and Plesk and we have several questions related to security updates that appear below.
- What is the best practice for keeping Plesk updated with security updates? I am not referring to operating system and application updates. I am referring specifically to security updates for Plesk itself.
- Is this process done automatically already? If not, can it be done automatically?
- I see that there is an Updater feature, but how do you use this feature?
- Do you have to update to a new version in order to get security updates, or are security updates backported to older versions?
- When updating to a new version, at what point do you have to buy a new license? For example, can you update from v8.1.1 to v8.6.0 for free? Can you update from v8.1.1 to v9.3.0 for free? Does the answer differ based on whether you purchased a license or you are leasing?
- Is the Updater reliable or can it mess up your Plesk install?
- Do the answers to these questions differ for different Plesk versions? If so, in what ways for the versions below?
