• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Resolved send mails from non-existing account

Tobias Janzen

New Pleskian
Hi,

this is my first here and i hope someone can help me.
I run plesk Version 17.8.11 on ‪Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS‬.
Mailserver is Postfix, IMAP-/POP3-Server is Dovecot.

Thats my problem:
The account [email protected] is existing.
If i add a mailaccount on my ipad and choose e.g. the non-existing emailadress [email protected] but use jon does credentials for incoming and outgoing server, the server accepts it all and i can send emails as [email protected].

Hope someone can help me

Email spoofing is a complex issue. In general, From and Reply-to fields in email messages can be arbitrarily set and are thus easily fabricated.

If one tries to enter a completely fabricated From field, i.e. [email protected], recipient's antispam systems usually step in and flag, quarantine or delete such a spoofed message, or at least they are expected to.

There is a way to fight sending spoofed mails when using Postfix though, refer to this: Plesk Help Center: How to restrict the field "From" mismatch for emails and prevent outbound mail spoofing?
