Setting up www. under hostname

OK, Scratching my head on this one.

Ubuntu 10.04 + plesk 10.2

When first installing the plesk panel you are asked to specify a hostname.
So I specified machine1.mydomain.com and completed the setup

Now I want to setup www.mydomain.com under the "domains" section and am greeted with
"domain already exists"

Any idea how I can add my own domain name to my own plesk server.

Thanks

My resolv.conf only list the two nameservers of my hosting company

I have since changed the server hostname to machine1.mydomain.NET but still can not add mydomain.COM to "adding Own Subscription" with out receiving "This doamin name already exists"

hostname -f retruns machine1.mydomain.NET

./site -i returns mydomain.com "does not belong to any customer"

This is a new install and mydomain.COM is only the second domain I have tried to add.

What do I need to purge to be able to add this domain??

Thanks
