SiteBuilder URL Setting

R

Guest
I just installed Sitebuilder and it tells me the the url is at:

http://sitebuilder.host.domain.net.

It is because "host.domain.net" is my hostname.

However, on the forum and most documentations, it is mentioned that the sitebuilder url is at:

http://sitebuilder.domain.net.

What was my problem? How did you guys end up that way? Do you all set the hostname "domain.net" without the sub domain? Can you do that? Because I was always instructed to set the hostname to something.domain.com rather than domain.com. I am a little confused about this. So please help.

Since now my url is at sitebuilders.host.domain.net, can I am change it to sitebuilder.domain.net without changing the hostname. For example, by using cname?

sitebuilder.host.domain.com (cname) sitebuilder.domain.com

Thanks!

Sam

I just tried installing Sitebuilder and I am still confused by this and cannot seem to get it to work. How do you do this exactly? You create a CNAME at the domain level or the server level?

I have lost a lot of sleep on Plesk and my memory is no longer good.

I didn't creat the cname. Just follow the documentation and go ahead creating an 'A' record for 'sitebuilder.domain.com' pointing it to the server IP, and Sitebuilder would show up on sitebuilder.domain.com.

Bascially, I remember I didn't do anything the documentation didn't asked for.

I am sure I must have done somthing wrong. I still cannot get it to come up. The documentation for Sitebuilder is awful.

Are you getting it from "sitebuilder.HOST.domain.com"?

Sam

Nope, I cant get Sitebuilder to even resolve. I have set up the DNS entries a million different ways and I can either get it to come up with the Plesk "This domain has not yet been setup" type page or the "This is the future home of X domain" type page. I cant get the sitebuider page to even show up at all.

At the end of the successful installation the installation scrip would tell you that the site is at http://sitebuilder.host.domain.com. Did you get to that stage?

I didn't ran into any problem up to that point and I was able to see the Sitebuilder on that url.

So before any dns setting is done you should be able to see your site at that url. If not it means that the installation wasn't successful and no dns setting would help.

Sam

ah, well I did get to the stage where it told me that however I cannot see the sitebuilder on that domain. So maybe I have other problems. Any suggestions as to what to check?

I have no idea at this time. Hope someone else can help.

BTW, did you buy this from Plesk? You can send in a support request and they are quite fast in replaying.

Sam

Yes, I got it from Plesk. So I guess I will try that out. Thanks for the attempt at help. :)

hi,

what i did is :
1.- go to "/etc/httpd/conf.d"
2.- edit sitebuilder.cnf

in the Virthostname , key in your ipaddres.*
in the Servername , key in sitebuilder.yourdomain.com:80

that fixed the problem , en mi case i have a new problem :

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: xslt_set_encoding() in /usr/local/sitebuilder/admin_login.php on line 60

any help is apresiated .
