SmarterMail 8

Hi,

Smartertools are currently on v8 of their SmarterMail product, however Plesk still only says that v6 is supported.

This is very inconvenient as we like to keep our software up to date to benefit from new features and performance enhancements. Why has Parallels not updated it's integration to support v8 of Smartermail? v6 is 3 years old.

Has development in this area been stopped?

The strange thing is that in the Plesk Panel there is a link to download Smartermail but of course you can only purchase/download v8!!

You can download the older versions by selecting the tabs on the right top at the Smartertools website / Smartermail download page. currently 8, 7 and v6.

Plesk 10 support SM 7 as far as I have seen in the release notes. Usually it takes a long time before Plesk updates and supports new versions but most of the time it just works anyway if SM did not adjust too much on the API.

We are running SM8 with Plesk 10 with no major problems. Pretty sure the few minor issues we have are a result of us migrating from Mail Enable to SM on a live system.

No known issues found in installing and running smartermail 8 on 10.2 here. The documents only state 6.8 due to the 7.x or 8.x product line hasn't made it through thier q/a process I'm sure. I spoke with the director of operations for smartermail and they make sure to test with most control panels to make sure thier products are compatible.
