SSL Certificates with domains aliases

ErwanG

Regular Pleskian
Hello,

We have a domain with two domains aliases.
How can we have certificate with each domains ?

Hi ErwanG,

if you would like to have a good instruction, how to create a self-signed multi-domain certificate, you might be interested to read: http://apetec.com/support/GenerateSAN-CSR.htm

Please be aware, that self-signed certificates are not secure at all and browsers will point to it, when opening domains with such certificates. Comodo for example offers an affordable "Positive Multi Domain SSL Certificate" for 3 domain names.

What is the difference beetween:

WILDCARD SSL CERTIFICATES
"Multi domain wildcard ssl"
"Positive multi domain wildcard"

MULTI DOMAIN / SAN / UCC
"Positive multi domain SSL"
"Multi domain wildcard ssl"
"Positive multi domain wildcard"

I don't understand. Costs are very different.

Use a SAN certificate on the main domain for this.

Let's Encrypt supports this by default:

https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/frequently-asked-questions-faq/26

"Can I get a certificate for multiple domain names (SAN certificates)?

Yes, the same certificate can apply to several different names using the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) mechanism. The resulting certificates will be accepted by browsers for any of the domain names listed in them."
