Hi everybody,
I have a question regarding subdomains.
My "problem" is as follows:
I recently purchased a server running Plesk 8.1.1.
The server has a dedicated IP and a "domain.com" address.
Now I want to forward a subdomain to a home server so I made a record in the DNS: "homeserver.domain.com" CNAME "myhomeaddress.isp.com".
But when I go to "homeserver.domain.com" I end up at my Plesk server at "domain.com" telling me hosting is not configured for this domain or there is no such name registered in Plesk.
Now my question is: how do I get this thing working?
Maybe the problem has something to do with the fact that the nameservers for my "domain.com" are "nameserver1.myserverprovider.com" and "nameserver2.myserverprovider.com"?
Maybe my server provider has to change something in their DNS?
Help greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Another thing is: while I've been seeing lot's of posts about having a wildcard or catch-all subdomain I want to have the opposite.
All subdomains end up at my Plesk server saying hosting is not configured for this domain or there is no such name registered in Plesk. I'd like to have Plesk return nothing when a user enters a subdomain that doesn't exist.
Can someone tell me how to do this?
Thanks again.
