  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Resolved Suddenly getting ASL errors today

PSi_101

Regular Pleskian
Just today i'm getting mails from /etc/cron.hourly/asl with the following content

/etc/cron.hourly/asl:
Error: ASL has not been configured
run-parts: /etc/cron.hourly/asl exited with return code 1

I think this is because /etc/asl/config is empty but i'm not sure if this was a recent change brought in by some update?

Has anyone else started seeing this too?
I'm running Plesk 12.5 on Debian 7

Keep us in the loop - for me these didn't work and I received this cron error for the first time today as well.

/etc/cron.hourly/asl:
Error: ASL has not been configured
run-parts: /etc/cron.hourly/asl exited with return code 1

Maybe i'll mark this as unsolved because the link didn't help for me either. I think the fact that it happened for the first time today means something.

So, the solution to reinstall modsecurity didn't help.
I think the problem occurs due to the empty config.
Anyone knows the Plesk standard ASL config?

There's a file in /etc/asl named config.dpkg-dist, but i'm not sure if this is a Plesk config or just a generic one that comes with the aum package. I tried cp'ing that file to config but it still throws the error. I'm a bit hesitant to set CONFIGURED="yes" because it specifically says not to modify in the line above it.
eg
# Master configuration flag. Do not modify
CONFIGURED="no"

We got the same issue here today. Started three hours ago. Tried removing/reinstalling mod_security, don't know if it worked yet.

Hi,

I've got the same Errors since this Morning ....

This line
/var/asl/bin/update_config.pl > /etc/asl/config
should generate the missing File ( File wasn't missing in my case, but had a size of 1 Byte)

but the last line tells

# Master configuration flag. Do not modify
CONFIGURED="no"

and a /etc/cron.daily/asl generates still the same error ...

There must be a config file any where else, where this Flag should be changed ...

Same problem here. Started at 03.26 AM (UTC +1) and then every hour.
Plesk updated to #43 at 02.33 AM so probably the updated messed something up...

Ubuntu 14.04.4
12.5.30 Update #43, last updated at Aug 10, 2016 02:33 AM

Yeah, Plesk updated here as well this morning to #43 and according to the config file info, it was modified around the same time.

I found an old config file under
/var/asl/rbc/etc/asl/config

with a timestamp from this night .... ( Name is config.1470869110)
in this Directory are 2 files, the newer one has
CONFIGURED="yes"

in it, so I copied this one over to /etc/asl/config

called /etc/cron.daily/asl

no Errors ....

That worked for me, too. Nice catch!
Update: Nope,
run-parts: /etc/cron.hourly/asl exited with return code 127

Corrected:That worked for me Thanks!
Unfortunately that wasn't the solution!

I strongly recommend to read the article https://talk.plesk.com/threads/suddenly-getting-asl-errors-today.338907/page-2#post-806035

Great stuf! Worked for me too.

@atomicturtle could you check this issue from your side? Thanks.

Code:
~# dpkg -S "/etc/asl/config"
aum: /etc/asl/config
root@rs227807:~# dpkg -l | grep aum
