• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Turning off DNS within plesk

NoelWxxx

New Pleskian
I assume that if I do not have custom nameservers and I am using the nameservers at the host of my domain name that I should turn off the plesk DNS?

Does it matter if I just leave the plesk DNS on anyway? Surely at worst it is just redundant and causing no problem? What is the advantage of turning it off? Can turning it off cause a problem even though the DNS zone (A records etc) are located at my domain name's host?

Switching off DNS services for a domain name through the control panel is OK and not harmful. However you will not be able to stop bind from running through SHELL and have plesk start ...it will not!!

Thanks. But i assume if I just leave it running (even though it is not being used) then no harm is being done?
