[SOLVED] (Ubuntu 6.06) Plesk base package update Aug 7, 2007 dependancy issue

I received a notice when I logged in to Plesk 8.2 that I had an update available. Updates were shown to be available for "Base packages of Plesk" and "Plesk Updater". After giving the go ahead to update, the report emails came back as follows:

- Plesk autoupdate success report -

...
The component psa-autoinstaller is already installed.
Not all packages were installed.
Please, resolve the above problem and try installing the packages again.
You did not specify the components to install.

- Plesk autoupdate failure report -

I removed psa-autoinstaller via apt and re-installed it, now the plesk updater in the control panel says its current even though its still show in bold as if it needs an update.

I attempted to do a remove/install for the plesk base packages but cant seem to locate the appropriate package name.

So I tried the updater on the console with 'sudo /opt/psa/admin/bin/autoinstaller'. The result:

E: Version '8.2.0-ubuntu6.06.build82070807.17' for 'psa-hotfix3' was not found

This is technical support in my mind so what do you peeps think?

Same problem for me, same results as above in Updater and command line. Also i can no longer update any components via Updater... only can if I use command line autoinstaller and deselect base packages. I looked to do a manual install but only psa_8.2.0-ubuntu6.06.build82070706.15_i386.deb.tar.gz
is available for download. Guess I'll get around to contacting tech support soon but thought I'd take a look here first.

Is this an important update or a minor bug fix(es)?

Before I attempt to install them

Feels like a "hotfix", but if you get them to install let us know how you did it :) It's not like it hosed our systems when we tried. So go for it!

I'd be the first to post the solution if I had. I only came here because I ran out of ideas. Anyone know if there is a way to get Plesk to pay attention to this post?

I put in a ticket referencing this post, we'll see what happens. This could easily cause us all to not receive further updates so it's important in my mind. I used to run Ensim and they jacked up an update which caused me to not be in a position to update again. It went stale and now I have Plesk. Hate to see the same thing happen.

benlake,

Please let me know what you find out. I agree, not being able to update after we have paid for a subscription is terrible.

Thanks for putting in the ticket benlake. I just hadn't gotten around to doing anything further about this yet.

and I thought this problem was only with Ubuntu, clearly not....
I'm in the same situation....

So you're using another OS? Care to mention it?

My bad, thought it was a cross-platform problem.... I too have Ubuntu..... My mistake :S

i've also an open ticket @ swsoft regarding this problem... i'll update as i've news

Answer from Support:

"Das Problem mit dem Update wird heute auf unserem autoinstall.plesk.com Server behoben und morgen koennen Sie Plesk aktualisieren."

we are gone see tomorrow if it is working

and in English.......

The problem with the update today repaired on our autoinstall.plesk.com server and tomorrow to be able it Plesk to update.

The upgrade worked, but now Horde is broken. It appears that appache2.conf does not have anything about webmail.

Is anyone else seeing this on Ubuntu and Plesk 8.2?

Found the solution, now everything seems to work.

Hi,
If you get default web page instead of webmail login page it means that webmail.* vhost is not present in /etc/httpd/conf.d/zz010_psa_httpd.conf.

Try to reconfigure Apache with the following command:
/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -a -v

Hope this helps someone else.

[SOLVED]

I think the German fellow was on the right track (honestly I'm not sure), but I have managed to complete my update without any magic. I did talk to support, but they were a little unclear in their responses. However, it did motivate me to try some things I had already done, again.

So here's the deal. Make sure you have the normal universe and multiverse sources enabled in source.list. My source.list

Do an
Code:
apt-get update
and then follow that with an
Code:
apt-get upgrade
. If you keep your system current you will see something like this:

Code:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
  psa-updates
The following packages will be upgraded:
  apache2 apache2-common apache2-mpm-prefork apache2-utils libapr0 psa-appvault-advancedpoll psa-appvault-autoindex
  psa-appvault-coppermine psa-appvault-egroupware psa-appvault-fasttrack psa-appvault-gallery psa-appvault-mambo

26 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
Need to get 48.4MB of archives.

Say yes and let the upgrades finish. Now log in to your control panel and perform the update as usual. The
Code:
psa-updates
package will be forced to update via the Plesk Updater.

That's it!

So a lesson to be learned here is that we all might want to do a manual apt-get update/upgrade prior to running Plesk Updater when updates are available.

Still a great control panel! Also, kudos to the support team for being willing to assist without all sorts of crazy up front payments. They will probably keep it that way if we all continue to use the support mechanisms they provide us for free.

Cheers!
