• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Unable to find the file ... Unable to get the file...

I've been running across this quite often. Is there a known fix for it? Has it been fixed in a future version?

404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

You should first investigate missing files directly on your server locations. If the specific file is indeed available at the desired location, please check your domain specific log - files from the webserver and make sure, that files and folders have the correct permissions. Control ".htaccess" - files ( and nginx rewrite rules if you use nginx as well! ), to be sure, that your webserver is able to serve the file(s) and make sure that no firewall, anti-virus - software, or modsecurity blocks access to the files or folders.

As an update xesnos.com is compiling now, but it is irrelevant, and not the project I've been attempting to work on. That file isn't in the directory. I was editing the correct file, and it assumed that directory for some reason. I believe that to be part of the issue.

I've been working on focalfuse.com, and receiving the same type of error with almost any file.

Hi Anthony Brian Mallgren,

as mentioned before, investigations have to be made to help you, because otherwise we could only guess, which might be time-investing and useless.

If you do not have direct access to the server via RDP then you will need to get GoDaddy involved cause we can't help if you don't have direct access to check permissions and what not. Can still check if the file in question exist by connecting via FTP and going to the folder where the file should be, might be able to also double check the permissions that way but without full RDP access to check everything else makes it hard.

Are there plans on implementing this functionality within Plesk, enabling secure permission configuration in default configurations for the lower end hosting packages? I understand the need for Secure Socket Layer Certificates in securing end-user transactional data, in regards to customers of hosting providers building web sites, but I do not understand why product development would aim to unnecessarily require Secure Socket Layer Certificates to perform tasks related to hosting.

As an update, I was editing a file in a browser tab in Chrome (let's call it Tab 1), opened an additional tab in Chrome (let's call it Tab 2), edited another file (in Tab 2), went back to the original file (in Tab 1), attempting to save the file, and it displayed the error message that the file name (from Tab 1) could not be found in the directory (from Tab 2).

What, exactly, are you requesting that I verify with GoDaddy?
