Update failure

When I run the autoupdater from the command line, I get this error:

Please run rhn_register (or up2date --register on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 or later)
as root on this client
Error Class Code: 9
Error Class Info: Invalid System Credentials.

When I try and update from the control panel, I get two emails. One says success and the other says failure, and contains the same error.

What do I need to do? I don't understand why I am getting this error when the upgrade to 8.1.1 when flawlessly.
