Upgrade MySQL from 5.1 to 5.5

Hello,

In order to install moodle, I need to upgrade MySQL from 5.1 to 5.5. I have gone through one of the KB articles http://kb.parallels.com/en/9365, but it's not very clear.

Can I upgrade it through Add/remove Components from Install and update products just like it can be done for PHP?? I see MySQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2012, will that help?
