Upgrade MySQL?

Hi.

I've noticed my server contains MySQL 3.23.58! Obviously, this is quite old and I'd like to upgrade to at least 4.x (maybe 5?). Anywho, I have no idea what the process would be.
- Is it safe to upgrade MySQL? Will Plesk shoot itself in the foot?
- How would I go about upgrading it?

I don't have access to psadump (see this thread for details) so I'm afraid I might break something and won't be able to restore it :(

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

yum update mysql

is the easiest...

Checkout http://atomicrocketturtle.com
for a repo that's psa compatible

may consider manually downloading and installing 4.0 rpms... (from art)
4.1 can be a little tricky...
