vhost directory missing backups

Kenan

Basic Pleskian
Hi,

I upgraded plesk 11.0 to 11.5 and then when i create a backup on a domain or serverwide, backup is including every object (db, mail, stats or other) but not include vhosts files.

Why would it?

Thanks.

Have you selected "Domain configuration and content - All configurations and content"? Have you tried to find a reason in Backup manager logs?

Hi Igor,

Yes i selected like you said. Click here to see the picture about sheduled backup settings. I will print my backup logs but i don't know, which log file is shows the causes?

Thanks.

Same problem.

PRODUCT, VERSION, MICROUPDATE, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE
PLESK 11.5.30 Update #1, Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Cannot create backup.
The process starts, but after a few minutes fails with error:

Error: The backup backup_info_1306271142.xml has failed. (View the details) Close this message

Details: Error LogError: hosting "mydomain.com"
STDERR: /bin/tar: access_log: file changed as we read it
Error: hosting "mydomain.com"
Failed to pack files backup_mydomain.com_logs_1306271142 in /var/lib/psa/dumps/domains/mydomain.com [ 473142769664 bytes free of 477422501888 bytes total on mount point 0]

The same problem arises when we try to create a backup copy of a subscription.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1) Go to Server Management -> Tools & Settings -> Backup Manager
2) Try to create full backup (Server configuration and content)
"Suspend domains until backup task is completed" not checked, we do a backup copy of a working site.

ACTUAL RESULT
Cannot create backup.

EXPECTED RESULT

ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The installation was made to "clean" server, data are not converted, not any custom settings.

Kenan, Have you tried troubleshoot this issue? Do you have any backup logs with corresponding error messages or something else?

2 problems with the backup utility included in 11.5 :

1) Freespace is not calculated correctly :
Backup utility reported backup size is 140756218007973 bytes

2) Permission denied errors while tarring backup with as result failed backup:
<description>STDERR: /bin/tar: httpdocs/xxxxx/header.html: Cannot stat: Permission denied
/bin/tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
</description>

Please fix.

Tried it, still the same problem.
You cannot create a backup, the process fails, as I wrote above.

But
access_log: file changed as we read it
access_log cannot be changed in case of suspended domain. Are you sure that you have exactly the same error when domain is suspended during backup procedure?

Sorry guys, it is really problem and we have submitted corresponding bugreport (#138620 for your reference). I hope it will be fixed in the nearest update.
You can try disable domain and check how backup process goes on.

After today's updating, the problem with Server Backup is solved.
---
However, remained another unpleasant problem, which is also linked to the Backup.
When I create a Server Backup, backups are created on each subscription, but for them I didn't put any commands. Thus clogging the server disk, then had to manually delete all.

It's made by design. Full server backup includs objects on the lower levels.

No, you misunderstood me.
What server backup includes the entire object hierarchy, it does not cause issues.

I wrote that when I create a backup of the server, it creates a separate backup copies (separate files, not server backup) of each client in each subscription.
This should not be.

May be it's my misunderstanding.
Then can you explain what do you mean while talking about separate files? Do you see it in UI for subscription tab Websites&Domains -> Backup Manager? May be do you can to attach a screenshot which illustrates the issue?

Unfortunately some problems with your forum, I did not upload the screenshots had to put them on my site.
Describe the problem in detail...

PRODUCT, VERSION, MICROUPDATE, OPERATING SYSTEM, ARCHITECTURE
PLESK 11.5.30 Update #1 (with Jul 1, 2013 update), Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS х64, clean installation

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
When I create a backup of the server, it creates a separate backup copies (separate files, not server backup) of each client in each subscription.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.1) Go to the (Server Management -> Tools & Settings-> Backup Manager), make sure that there are empty (http://johncms.com/1_1.jpg)
1.2) Go to any subscription (Subscriptions -> anydomain -> Backup Manager) and make sure that there is empty (http://johncms.com/1_2.jpg)
1.3) Go back to the Server Management -> Tools & Settings-> Backup Manager and start the backup process (http://johncms.com/1_3.jpg)

Wait for the end of the backup process and repeat step 1 and 2.

2.1) Server Management -> Tools & Settings-> Backup Manager, we see that we have a backup created by us. This is correct (http://johncms.com/2_1.jpg)
2.2) Subscriptions -> anydomain -> Backup Manager, We see that here too there is a backup copy, which we don't need, because we made a backup of the entire server. This is wrong (http://johncms.com/2_2.jpg)

ACTUAL RESULT
When backing up the server, creates unnecessary backups files in each subscription.

EXPECTED RESULT
When you create a backup of the server must not create separate backups files for each subscription

ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Look at time stamp of your subscribtion backup from step 2.2. It is the same as for server backup from step 2.1. So subscription backup is a PART of full server backup. To make sure in this fact try to remove full server backup from step 2.1 and you will see that backup from step 2.2 will be removed too.

Ok Igor i updated my plesk and backed up again, so did not an error but the same problem still goes on. vhosts files doesn't include the backup. Where is the problem i can't find, where must i look for backup logs? Where is the backup logs? I will print them here on next reply.

Thanks
