Resolved WordPress Toolkit: maintenance mode not works

MicheleB

Regular Pleskian
Hello,
I need to activate the "maintenance mode" but I can't see the expected page, instead I receive the 503 error page "Service Temporarily Unavailable".
The default page is available on the website ("httpdocs/wp-content/maintenance/template.phtml) but not load.

I've tried on other WP installations and the maintenance mode works good.
The only difference from the others domains is that this installation is on the same domain that I use to access Plesk (https:// mydomain:8443)

How can I fix it?
Thanks.

Hello,
Please provide us with an additional information so we may reproduce you issue in a correct way:
- Your Plesk's version?
- Is this domain the same as your server's hosname?
- If you are using Plesk 18, which option is set at "Tools&Settings - Tools&Resouces - Customize Plesk URL"?

- Your Plesk's version?
CloudLinux 7.8 (Alexei Leonov)
Plesk Obsidian version 18.0.27 Update #1, last updated on May 25, 2020 02:21 PM

- Is this domain the same as your server's hosname?
Yes, is the main domain that I use also to enter on Plesk (https:// mydomain:8443)

- If you are using Plesk 18, which option is set at "Tools&Settings - Tools&Resouces - Customize Plesk URL"?
The first option (All domains and subdomains that resolve to the server IP address but are not used for hosting)

Hi, I'm looking at your issue. As I understand, you also can not see maintenance mode page preview in maintenance mode setup.

Yes, when I click on "preview" nothing happen.
The issue is only with the main domain, maintenance mode for the others domains with WordPress works good.

Because I cannot reproduce your issue on my environment I should ask some questions:
1. Is "https:// mydomain:8443" exactly (containing space, no corresponding to pattern "domain.tld") address of your main domain?
2. Can problem instance be opened (without Maintenance Mode)?
3. Could you clean /var/log/plesk/panel.log, turn on Maintenance mode and look (and inform me) what does panel.log contain?
4. Could you access Plesk via hosts IP:8443 and try to turn on Maintenance mode for problem instance? What's happened?
5.

1. Is "https:// mydomain:8443" exactly (containing space, no corresponding to pattern "domain.tld") address of your main domain?
The main domain has the classic pattern "domain.ltd" (has an extension .it... Italian domain), I've added a space only to avoid to generate a wrong link here in this post

2. Can problem instance be opened (without Maintenance Mode)?
if you are referring to the operation of the website without Maintenance Mode... yes it works good, no problem if I disable it.

3. Could you clean /var/log/plesk/panel.log, turn on Maintenance mode and look (and inform me) what does panel.log contain?
Is empty

4. Could you access Plesk via hosts IP:8443 and try to turn on Maintenance mode for problem instance? What's happened?
The same behaviour as before, open the file "/error_docs/maintenance.html" instead of the maintenance file of WPT (I suppose that in "httpdocs/wp-content/maintenance/template.phtml")

Hi,
Could you please look what's written to "/var/www/vhosts/<YOURDOMAIN>/logs/error_log" when you turning on MM and opening problem site under MM?
Thanks.

Damn it, I found the cause of the problem.
I had an old instruction in the "additional apache directives", that redirecting to the "error_docs" pages.

So no problem with WordPress Toolkit.
Sorry for the false alarm.

"Service Temporarily Unavailable".
The default page is available on the website ("httpdocs/wp-content/maintenance/template.phtml) but not load.
