Im wondering what alternatives other than the plesk antivirus program are available or that will happily co-exist on a Plesk server?

any suggestions?

right so any windows 2003 antivirus programs would be ok to run on the server?

things like NOD, Vet, Norton, sophos etc whihc have versions for windows 2003

NOD32 by ESET works great for Windows 2003 Server SP2 Web / Standard R2 / Enterprise R2

It has a low overhead, constantly scans and protects against rootkits, and it updates defiinitions hourly. The best part is, a single license for a year of protection is just $39 dollars.

I like how it doesn't try taking over Windows Firewall like Norton AV typically does. Norton is bad news on servers...

They have a free 30-day trial on their website, so you can see how it integrates with your Plesk server worry free.

This is wrong. $39.00 is not the proper license for a server environment.

In fact they don't list the pricing for the proper license on the site, you have to contact them.

This is not correct. Don't publish wrong answers.

I will explain.
The Desktop license for NOD32 is also eligible for Windows 2003.
This means that you can buy even NOD32 OEM license for Windows XP.
because the license of NOD32 for desktop can also run under windows 2003. and is even written on ESET web site.

You now asking , so why Server license of NOD32 exist ?
The license for server/client environment is used only when you have a server and also desktop computers. the license for such environment comes with remote control licence , this means that you may control all desktop computer from one control managment.

So , when you use Windows Server 2003 for hosting web site , the server is not behaving as office server which ptovide service for local desktop computers. Also Web hosting Server is not acting as file server which provide service for local office. so in this case the web server is just like Standalone server which not control any desktop computers.

in this case , you may use ESET NOD32 regular license which is the same for Desktop computers.
Again , the web server is acting like desktop computer. When you use Windows 2003 server for hosting web sites , the machine is not acting like internal office server !!!

For conclusion , NOD32 license for Windows 2003 Server which is just acting as WEB SERVER (not as internal office server) is the same license like the desktop NOD32 license.

Is it still true? may I buy a desktop NOD32 license for windows 2003 server and use it with Plesk?
