Changing Storage Location of Databases

I plan on using a separate computer to handle all databases setup within Plesk and adding the separate database server was simple enough. now on that separate database server I have set aside another set of hard drives to actually store the databases on. I set the default locations from within both MySQL and MSSQL but yet when I create a database on my test domain it still puts them within the program files directory of the respected database applications. Is this something that Plesk is doing or did I set something up wrong on my end?

no special settings are required on the side of Plesk.
make sure that, when you create a database in Management studio express for instance, it is created where you want to.
check if you create databases in correct SQL Server instance from Plesk
choose the SQL Server it as default on the Plesk -> Server -> SQL Servers page
