• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Compile Qmail for Multilog

I still have the same question more than 1 year later

DeanW,

Your reply does not answer my post as on the link you have provided there is no mention of Multilog.

The question is:

Can I compile Qmail for Plesk with Multilog? Will everything still function as it's supposed to? Will all my stats still be updated as they are supposed to? Any tips for compiling Qmail for Multilog? I really would like an answer. Qmail is so unmanageable.

Sorry, I don't know how to do that... Plesk probably expects the current format... Why do you need multi-log? Maybe you can use these instructions (do a "Find" on the page for "multilog") http://cr.yp.to/qmail/faq/admin.html

qmail isn't unmanageable - it comes "barebones" and then you patch it how you like. Yes, patches are a bit tricky for the novice but it becomes easier with experience. As an email list software and support provider I find it one of the simpler and more effective MTAs.

Regards

Why do you need multi-log?

For SNMP Management.

Try using it with Greylisting or limiting the maximum number of recipients per message.

What the point of a control panel then? You get an e-mail server with it that needs patching? For years people have been unhappy with Qmail and Plesk and SWSoft has spent very little time addressing this issue. I am like many other people praying Plesk is going to release Postfix support soon and apparently it's in the pipeline...but in the meanwhile we have to "fix" a product that has had no source code updates in years and just hasn't kept up with the times.
