I don't want to broke the panel app. and I don't want to uninstall & install the software..

What do you want to do? You can use --help option for this autoinstaller and choose needed options for you. Or just run and follow menu.

I had the same problem. Changing /etc/debian_version to 7.5 only did not work.

This sequence did work:
- Change /etc/debian_version to 7.5
- Reboot
- Do a normal Plesk "Updates and Upgrades"
- Upgrade to the latest Plesk12
- Change /etc/debian_version back to 7.6
- Reboot (just to be sure)
- Check if "Updates and Upgrades" now still works.

According to developers this problem should be fixed now. Please check it.
