I have asked aplus.net support team this question for 6 months now and they seem to (1) not know how to fix this; (2) they know this is a known issue with no known solution to fix this; or (3) they don't care.
When I set up a new domain name and email accounts on the server, my clients want to set up their emails to be able to send and receive emails from the server only, where they setup their Incoming POP server as mail.domain.com and SMTP as mail.domain.com as well. This is critical to do this as the client has several sales reps who travel with their laptops.
At my office, I personally setup my Outgoing SMTP server as outgoing.verizon.net and dont use my Plesk server to send mails. When I travel, I have to keep changing the SMTP based on where i am at and who the ISP provider is. That is a pain to do.
When I setup a test email account [email protected] in my Outlook 2003, and when I click on Test Account Settings, I get an error message when sending out the test email. The error says the server can be found, but could not receive a response from the server and to verify that the port and SSL information is correct.
Aplus.net last told me that my firewall in my office was blocking Port 25 and that is the problem. I know this is not true because all my clients get the same problems nationwide. I set my firewalls and my ZoneAlarm antivirus to allow port 25, and still get test email failures. I have lost 2 clients now and will lose another NEW client i just broght on board.
Please help.
