error upgrading plesk 8.0 fc2

same problem

I had exactly the same problem... I found the following in update log file:

The record in /etc/hosts file for this host name does not coincide with the information served by DNS. Please remove the respective record from /etc/hosts

My problem was that I had master.domain.com instead of mail.domain.com and after changing the update was done without any problems.

I hope it will help you in any way...

Regards, Dejan.

I had the same problems as others

I was having the same problems with upgrading to plesk 8 on a fc2 system. Using the updater left me with 8.0 only half installed so nothing would work. I was forced to download the entire plesk 8.0 tar.gz from plesk.com and force an rpm install of the base packages. This got 8.0 installed and my system going again. Of course this also left all the old 7.5.4 packages in the rpm db so none of the new updates wanted to install. When I removed the plesk 7.5.4 entries from my rpm db I was able to upgrade my 8.0 via the updater. I have intentionally left this post vague as this should be considered an absolute last resort. Forcing an rpm install is generally not a good idea, but I didn't have much choice in the matter.

Damn error!

Hey there, I'm having same problems here.
Plesk 7.5.4 on fc2, trying to upgrade to 8.0

My qmail started to answer
Error: HTTPD_INCLUDE_D not defined

System error 11: Resource temporarily unavailable
when password entered (after telnet <hostname> 110, user <user> pass <pass>).

Anyone solved this?

I have this problem too...

So I am working on a system with the same problem as this HTTPD_Include_D not defined. This is running on Fedora Core 2 and was using 7.5.4 just fine. Plesk was then updated to 8.1 which failed, and the system was taken back to 7.5.4.

Now we are unable to log in to any of the mail accounts on the system via webmail or pop3. The maillog file has numerous errors regarding this HTTPD_INCLUDE_D not defined.

We have checked the /etc/courier-imap/pop3d and /etc/courier-imap/imapd files for these lines:

AUTHMODULES="authpsa"
MAILPASSWD="/usr/local/psa/qmail/users/poppasswd"

and they are present, with the exception that our MAILPASSWD= is pointing to a different location, although it does appear to be correct for this system.

We tried restarting the mail system which didn't help. We checked the /etc/php.ini for session.auto_start and it was set to 0, changed this to 1 and restarted apache. Still no change. Host file appears to be intact.

We have noticed that since the downgrade back to 7.5.4, we have a variety of RPMs that appear to be related to Plesk 8.1 build. We believe that these are probably the cause now, and that we either need to successfully upgrade to 8.x or successfully downgrade to 7.5.4.

Additionally we noticed that the failures started after this line appeared in the maillog file:

Feb 22 18:43:05 ip-xx-xxx-xx-xx spamd[19450]: logger: removing stderr method

We have seen a lot of reference to SpamAssasin having lots of problems and it seems as though people have removed this. Hasn't been clear whether this corrects the issue or not. Additionally, we have seen reference to people forcing a Plesk install. Typically, forcing installs doesn't seem like to best option, but we are looking for the best path to 'up' at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

After reading over this thread, I have some more questions:

1) Where is the upgrade log located?
2) Lots of reference to the /etc/hosts file - but no information as to what was changed in the file to correct the issue.
3) Is it possible to copy the mailboxes to another location on the hard drive and replace them after upgrading to 8.1 if there is any problems?
4) What is the command to test qmail from the command line? Specifically in this case, we are logging in via SSH with a user account that doesn't have a mail account... and we wish to send using a mail account that doesn't have a login for the box.
5) There are references make to removing spamassassin and psa-spamassasin. Is this necessary if we have spamassasin 3.1.0-5?

Any additional info is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance (sorry for the long post, trying to be informative)
