  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Hi,

I'm using Plesk 8.6.0 on my Debian 3.1 (sarge machine). I tried to do a backup today an got the following error. Has has anyone the same problem?

xxx:~# /usr/local/psa/bin/pleskbackup all /root/plesk.conf
05:28:57 ERROR Unable to open /opt/psa/var/apspkgarc/archive-index.xml

Cheers,
Dominik

Hi,

firstly make sure that file /opt/psa/var/apspkgarc/archive-index.xml exists and has correct permissions and owner (you can compare permissions on another Plesk server if you have one or just temporally set permissions to 777).

You can also try calling pleskbackup with "-v" option to get more detailed output.

ok, the file doesn't exist at all? should I add a empty one?
when I do a "/usr/local/psa/bin/pleskbackup -vvv all /root/plesk.conf | less" there is no ERROR at all?

xxx:~# /usr/local/psa/bin/pleskbackup all /root/plesk.conf
05:28:57 ERROR Unable to open /opt/psa/var/apspkgarc/archive-index.xml

Looks like a mismatch between /usr/local/psa and /opt/psa. I thought Plesk installed under /opt/psa on Debian/Ubuntu?

it is installed there, its just a symbolic link!
xxx:~# /opt/psa/bin/pleskbackup all /root/plesk.conf
09:40:55 ERROR Unable to open /opt/psa/var/apspkgarc/archive-index.xml

still same error :(

I do have the archive-index.xml file on our CentOS systems: /usr/local/psa/var/apspkgarc/archive-index.xml It isn't owned by any package, according to rpm -qf and it's contents are not too interesting:

<files>
<!--THIS FILE IS AUTOGENERATED! DO NOT EDIT IT MANUALLY!-->
</files>

I guess the contents of this file are generated as part of the backup process.

hmm, really strange!!

it works when I add more than 3 "-v" options
with only one or two I still get the error???

I just made a blank one and it seems to be working now. I was able to restore from the backup I made, so I assume it works... Not sure whats supposed to be in the file.

which version of plesk do you use and which updates did you install?
what were your backup and restore commands?
what OS do you use and what are you DB and PHP versions?

Probably a solution

I got and solved the same problem recently on newly installed Plesk 8.6.
This is what I did on my Pleask installation.

The "archive-index.xml" is created right after you access "System > Server > Application Vault".
You don't need to do anything else, just see that page.

Hope this helps somebody.

sounds like a easy and good solution, but my problem is, my licence key doesn't support the "application vault" :(
