horde blank page on email view

hi,

running centos 5 and plesk 10.4.4.
if i go to horde -> webmail -> and then click on emailsubject to view email i get a blank page
strace on apache process says 500 internal server error but i can not find out why.
/var/log/psa-horde/psa-horde.log has no entry for this problem.
i've tried

export USE_ZEND_ALLOC=0

in /etc/init.d/httpd and in /etc/sysconfig/httpd w/o any success

can someone help on this problem?

checked it

but without success

i edited the file /usr/share/psa-horde/lib/Horde/Date.php
and verified permissions for /etc/passwd

but horde still stays on a blank page.
