New Pleskian
I’m managing a Plesk Obsidian server and trying to understand how outgoing mail limits and SMTP restrictions actually work at the server level.
I’ve enabled Outgoing Mail Control in Tools & Settings → Mail Server Settings and set limits for domains and mailboxes, but the behavior still feels inconsistent in some cases.
I’m also testing different SMTP service providers like SMTPmart, SendGrid, and Amazon SES for sending emails externally, and I’m trying to understand how Plesk limitations interact with these SMTP services.
A few things I’m not clear about:
From what I understand, limits are applied per mailbox/domain, but real-world behavior doesn’t always seem consistent.
Has anyone here properly configured strict outgoing mail control in Plesk while also using external SMTP services like SMTPmart or other SMTP providers for bulk or transactional email?

A few things I’m not clear about:
- Do Plesk outgoing limits apply equally to SMTP, webmail, and external SMTP providers?
- Why do some emails still appear to bypass expected limits under certain conditions?
- What is the best way to enforce strict and consistent SMTP-level throttling across all mail sending methods?
- Is queueing handled differently when using external SMTP service providers like SMTPmart or SendGrid?
