Hi everyone. When I send an email containing umlauts (äöüß) via Plesk webmail or Thunderbird, then the received email is not shown with the correct encoding. How can I set the plesk mail server to use utf8?
The mail server transports the bytes that you are submitting. It does not alter the content, hence the character set does not need to be set there. Instead, check your Webmail configuration page to set your default character set. The same applies to Thunderbird. You set the character set that you want to use for outgoing mails in its configuration. The issue here could be that you are sending mails with a different character set than what you use to receive (read) them. But both can be set in the configuration of the mail clients. It is not a server issue.
