  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

outgoing mails and fail2ban

JuanCar

Regular Pleskian
I kow fail2ban can monitor log files and act if certains limits are exceeded, so it bans attacking IP,s. All controled via jail, action and filter files.
Then I wonder if we can create a jail record, that could stop outgoing mails. Fail2ban could waths mailing log, and if the number of outgoing messages in a time is greater than X, it stop the sending.
That's the idea, is it possible?

Thanks

I'm sure it would be possible to adapt fail2ban to work as you suggest. I'm not aware of an implementation of this.

But you'd probably need to restrict it to looking for spam outbreaks, so the threshold would need to be relatively high.

But this feature is almost certainly going to be on the menu for plesk 12. At least I'm crossing my fingers about it.

The problem is outgoing emails

But I don't see any feature to limit outgoing mails per hour or per day or ... The problem is avoid an illegal bot to send mails (spam) and harm the reputation of server IP.
I can't believe that there isn't a free soft for this action.

Thanks
