  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Parallel Running Windows in Linux Server With Plesk

breaves

New Pleskian
I am considering Plesk as my control panel on a Linux VPS solution, which I am still researching a provider. Is it possible to use Parallel within a Linux VPS to run Windows? I want to use Linux hosting but also want to run a couple of Windows applications.

Thanks for your help!

Not sure that you may run Windows applications on Linux VPS...
And how it is related to Plesk?

No. You can NOT run Windows programs on a Linux host. You'll need a Windows VPS for that.

Thanks for these replies.

The reason I ask is I know I can use Parallel on OSX to run windows applications and thus was hoping I could use it on a Linux VPS the same way.

Cheers!

Parallels makes several different pieces of software. e.g., Just take a look at the top-level of the Parallels forum!

  1. Parallels Plesk Panel is the Webhosting management software.
  2. Parallels Desktop allows Mac users to run the Microsoft Windows operating system (and, therefore, Windows applications) on Mac.
  3. VMware Workstation allows Linux users to run the Microsoft Windows operating system on the Linux desktop (i.e., KDE or Gnome) and the Microsoft Windows version of the software allows Windows users to run the LInux operating system on the Windows desktop. i.e., VMware Workstation is available for both operating systems.
This forum is devoted to Parallels Plesk Panel. I think that you'll want to look in the Parallels Desktop for Mac forum.
