Having tested this afternoon ... now on a small production box. So far so good.

Fill yer boots and dip yer bread in!

SWSoft really needs to discover that CentOS and RHEL are the same thing and support them both with the RHEL4 packages.

I been using RHEL PSA packages with CentOS without issue for a very long time and continue to do so. I have to unnecessarily change /etc/redhat-release to make it work however.

I just finished upgrading to CentOS 4.3 and the RHEL4 PSA 8.0 works perfectly.

jchost - Good to hear with the CentOS distro. I wont be upgrading until at least x.x.2 but i luv ya for taking the plunge ;)

Yeah I love to be on the bleeding edge I guess, we just got ourselves a new quad opteron box and setting up Plesk on it was the last thing I had to do after I configured everything else. I would of been awfully nervous to try this on our machine that is still in production (currently running 7.5.4). We should be moving over to the new machine next week sometime.

I've given myself 2 months from now to upgrade to Plesk 8. Pretty much no new (worthwhile) features for my clients but I have my fingers crossed (pending reviews from people here) that all the backend and migration stuff has improved considerably.

I have about a week of time for testing the new machine, so I'll keep you all posted of my progress.

Appreciate all the feedback from this forum :) It's what holds me back!....

cool

i'm waiting for news, hope it works fine so that i can update my servers :)

i installed 7.5.4 first and then immediately 8.0 and nothing broke at all. And then I installed PHP5 almost painlessly using ART rpms (see php5 thread), so yeah reassurance for people looking to upgrade. The only pain was the key ! :)

No issues here, server is in production, seems to be doing well.

PLESK 8.0 user

Hi all, first post here.

I upgraded to PLESK 8.0 (from 7.5.4) last week on my Dell PowerEdge 850 server running CentOS 4.2 (updated with yum) with PHP5 (the CentOS Plus packages) all working OK apart from a QMail issue I have, but I'm working on it, otherwise all is working sweet :)

I like the fact that you can now use SSL in subdomains, before I had to configure this manually in the httpd.conf files, which was a pain. Lots of other nice new stuff too. Nice work.

Regards,

Mike

Ran up2date, yum update, then the Plesk V3 upgrader, went from 7.5.4 to 8 on RHEL3ES with no problems whatsoever.

I love it!
