Plesk autoinstaller GPG error

Lloyd_mcse

Silver Pleskian
Plesk Guru
Hi guys,

I had been wondering why I wasn't getting MU#42 of Plesk 12.0.18 on Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (and 12), and I noticed this when running apt-get update (just after running autoinstaller from UI)...

Reading package lists... Done
W: GPG error: http://autoinstall.plesk.com trusty InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 227C38D6AF741DEB

There's nothing coming up in the kb* for me or on here.
Ubuntu 12 is on a dedicated server and 14 on a Hyper-V VPS, both running Plesk 12.0.18 MU41.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help
Kind regards

Lloyd

*KB mentions apt-key update but that doesn't help.

Hi Lloyd_mcse,

the keyserver did a video call to you, saw your face and denied giving out the new public key.... suggestion: switch off your cam and update again with autoinstaller .... all will be fine.... :D:D:D

Naaaaaa... you are not alone... Odin / Parallels just forgot to publish the new key... I searched as well around and couldn't find the new public key for Ubuntu at all. :) A nice Odin / Parallels Team member will report it and they will solve this issue right away, I think! :)

Hello,

The issue should be fixed on original autoinstall.plesk.com since the last Thursday. If it is still reproducing on you environment please check following:

1. Your Plesk installation source is not overridden in /root/.autoinstallerrc
Code:
# cat /root/.autoinstallerrc
SOURCE=http://uri.of.local.mirror/here/

2. Ping autoinstall.plesk.com should be on the same IP as it resolves from your host (IPs can be different depending of server location):
Code:
root@a10-52-65-98:~# host autoinstall.plesk.com localhost
Using domain server:
Name: localhost
Address: ::1#53
Aliases:

autoinstall.plesk.com is an alias for ec.geo.parallels.net.
ec.geo.parallels.net is an alias for wpc.051C.thetacdn.net.
wpc.051C.thetacdn.net is an alias for gp1.wpc.v2cdn.net.
gp1.wpc.v2cdn.net has address 93.184.221.133
root@a10-52-65-98:~#
root@a10-52-65-98:~# ping autoinstall.plesk.com
PING autoinstall.plesk.com (93.184.221.133) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from autoinstall.plesk.com (93.184.221.133): icmp_seq=1 ttl=58 time=57.2 ms

3. If points 1 and 2 shows that not original autoinstall.plesk.com is used as installation source try to remove autoinstaller cache:
Code:
# rm -rf /var/cache/parallels_installer/

4. Run autoinstaller with debug and try to install updates: # /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/autoinstaller --debug

5. Check the last call of apt-get from autoinstaller - it should contain option "-o APT::Get::AllowUnauthenticated=true"
root@a10-52-65-98:~# grep apt-get /tmp/autoinstaller3.log | tail -1
autoinstaller: read output of DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive LANG=C apt-get --assume-yes --show-upgraded --purge --no-reinstall -o APT::Get::List-Cleanup=true -o Dpkg::eek:ptions::=--force-confdef -o Dpkg::eek:ptions::=--force-confold -o APT::Get::AllowUnauthenticated=true -o Acquire::Retries=3 -t 'trusty*' --just-print install plesk-php56=5.6.7-ubuntu14.04.15033113 ....

6. Check autoinstaller used for installation version:
Code:
root@a10-52-65-98:~# grep "started at" /tmp/autoinstaller3.log | tail -1

No, still the same...

Code:
# cat /root/.autoinstallerrc
cat: /root/.autoinstallerrc: No such file or directory

autoinstaller3.log

That's all I get.

Thanks again for your help

Please run

@RuslanT :

we all have the same GPG - error ( NO_PUBKEY 227C38D6AF741DEB ) on different servers and locations... wouldn't be the conclusion, that there might be an error on the Plesk-server-site? ^^

Yeah, I fixed my Ubuntu 14 server last night (thanks UFHH01), but still nothing on Ubuntu 12, running Plesk 12.0.18 MU41.
The thing is, on there I'm not getting the GPG Key warning, I'm just not getting updates.
I've obviously tried everything I did with Ubuntu 14, so I'm not sure.
Any ideas?

nah...still the same errors. my VPS provider OVH say that parallels (odin?) are working on a fix. haven't heard that here though.

Hi,
Lloyd_mcse, I see no errors in your log - there are warnings about GPG keys but they are just warnings and ignored by autoinstaller which continued working and finished with:
Patch for plesk 12.0.18 will not be installed since it is already applied.
You already have the latest version of product(s) and all selected components
Looks like we missed patch #42 on Ubuntu 14 on autoinstall.plesk.com somehow :(

UFHH01, I suppose you had the same issue. Looks like GPG warnings are the last things autoinstaller reports before exit when no new patches available - I can said more accurately if you send me you log.

lupined, I encountered a bug when reproduce you case: PPPM-2743 autoinstaller doesn't revert original sources list if source for system packages is not found.
I suppose your issue can be caused with it too.
Try do following as workaround:
1. Remove ai_back source list saved by autoinstaller
# rm -f /etc/apt/sources.list.ai_back

2. Modify sources list to include OS packages repositories like:
# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty main restricted universe
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty-updates main restricted universe
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty-security main restricted universe
3. Run apt-get update
# apt-get update
4. Update your Plesk installation with:
# /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/autoinstaller --select-release-current --upgrade-installed-components
