Resolved Plesk Firewall blocking FTP Storage backup

Edi Duluman

Basic Pleskian
Hello!

I have just activated the Plesk Firewall ( with it's default settings ), and did the PassivePorts thing in ProFTPD ( so I can retrieve the directory listing , having Passive mode enabled ) in my FTP client, don't know if that matters, anyway.

Anyway problem is now that while Firewall is enabled, i get a curl timeout error even though the ftp storage is in the local network.

What do I need to do in this case ? Note that it only happens when the Firewall is enabled so I'm not pretty sure what to do.

For ProFTP to be able to handle passive transactions once the firewall extension is enabled, you need to do some changes:

Working example:

Create a file /etc/proftpd.d/passive_ports.conf with this content:

<Global>
PassivePorts 57000 59000
</Global>

Add this rule to the firewall:

FTP PASV Ports
Incoming
Allow
Ports: TCP 57000-59000

Save the new setting (“Apply Changes” -> “Activate”).

Hei! I forgot to reply here, fixed the issue. I already had configured the Passive Ports, therefore I had to check "Use FTPS" and "Use Passive mode". Works fine now with the Firewall enabled.
