Issue Plesk Update fails - An error occurred during performing of installation PREP actions

Plesk Update fails with this error -
An error occurred during performing of installation PREP actions. I am attaching the log it generated. I have upgraded the database to Mariadb 10.1. Wonder if this is causing it. The server seems to be working fine, just not able to apply any updates.

It looks like this issue:
Mysql service cannot be started during Plesk update: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
