psadump not installed? Problem with license key misconfiguration.

Dear forum members,

can anyone please give me any hints about the following problem:

I have rented a virtual server at 1und1 which includes Plesk 7.5 Reloaded. One day - as usual - I wanted to log into Plesk and got the error message: "Your license key has expired. To continue using your Control Panel you must purchase a non-expiring commercial license."
(Of course I don't need to to do because it is part of my rental contract with 1und1). Apparently I cannot use Plesk anymore for anything. "Retrieve Keys" says: "Service is not available now, probably your Plesk is misconfigured. Contact Your provider for details".

I contacted the 1und1 technical support. They just said that I should initialize my server. Before doing so, I need of course to backup all Plesk settings (I have several domains, clients, databases and websites on the server).

However it appears to me that the backup/restore tools are not existing on the server. When doing a "locate" searching for the tools I get the message:

/$ locate psadump
locate: /var/lib/locatedb: No such file or directory
/$ locate pleskbackup
locate: /var/lib/locatedb: No such file or directory
"

How can I fix this problem?

I think your problem is your locate database has never been created. In any case psadump should be under /usr/local/psa/bin/psadump, if you are using Linux.

If I were you, tho, I would dump each mysql database using mysqldump -- and zip each web site up.

psadump's reliability is highly questionable, in my opinion. I never had any success with it even simply dumping the data.

I want to reactivate this topic, because I have the exact same problem. I have Plesk 7.4 reloaded for Linux installed and I want to move with the complete to another server. The other server has much more ressource, so that is the reason for moving.

Now I want to backup the plesk configuration and restore them on the new server, so that all domains with all email accounts, ftp accounts and whatever is installed with the same passwords.

But I cannot find the psadump tool and the psarestore tool. I've tried to search for them by using

find

and a lot of other ways. But I simply cannot find them. How can I reinstall them, or how can I save my Plesk configuration manually? Is there a way. Is it possible, that my Plesk doesn't support the backup tools for some lisence reason? It is really important for me, because to server for rental means money.

Well your not using the find command properly, I would suggest you just look in /usr/local/psa/bin/ for psadump. Or run it using "/usr/local/psa/bin/psadump"

There is no file. I really looked everywhere. And I used other search commands. I'm really sure, that there is no psadump and psarestore.

Is there a way to get these tools somewhere? Can I manually backup the config?

psadump is part of the psa-bu package. You should go into the Plesk control panel and goto the installer and see if you can find "Backup utilities" and install it.

Ok, let's say I don't have the chance to install the backup utilities like you told me. And let's say, this is because I have just a little licence. Is there a way to manually install the email accounts for example? Can I just copy the file tree and some config files and it will still work?
If yes, what kind of files would that be?
