Qmail Monitoring Service Passing/Failing

[Coldfusion2006]

I have WatchDog running and every few months I get a message saying my connection failed or it passed.

Recently I got this:

[Mon, 02 Apr 2007 23:17:03 -0500] qmail_smtpd on
xxxxxxxxx.onlinehome-server.com: Connection failed.
'qmail_smtpd' failed protocol test [SMTP] at INET[localhost:25].

What could be causing this?

Would it be internet connectivity? Is my host possibly loosing a connection intermittantly every so often?

Any pointers or explanations would be greatly appreciated.

Although this issue has been covered numerous times in these forums, one of the solutions is to uninstall the Watchdog module. Hope this helps!

Now that would just defeat the whole purpose of Watch Dog!

Are you the type of guy who just puts tape over a "Check Engine Light" in a car as a fix ?

What kind of answer is that?

So if the issue has been covered numerous times and you know about this issue, why not offer a little more detail? It seems just turning something off for the sake of no longer getting messages is not a fix.

Sorry to come off irritated but your answer is a really poor solution without reason.

If the watchdog module has a fault that is irreparible within Plesk then I would understand your option.


Also performing a search for "'qmail_smtpd' failed protocol"

Brings up one post... Mine! So maybe you could have pointed out where all these numerous dicussions are...
