Redirect main folder to virtual directory

Hi,

Is there a way to redirect the main folder of a domain to a virtual directory/subfolder?

My Problem is, that in my PLESK controlpanel from my provider I can only create virtual directories in the main httpdocs folder, and if I have a main ASP.NET application installed there, all the other ASP.NET applications in the subfolders read the parent's web.config, even though they are in a virtual directory, so I can't have independent ASP.NET applications.
One solution would be to install ALL applications in a virtual subdirectory, also the main application, but then I need to change the http adress of the main application eg. from www.johnshope.com to www.johnshope.com/main. I could of course store a html page in the main folder that redirects to the subfolder but that's not what I want.
Unfortunately I cannot create virtual directories outside of httpdocs with my current provider's PLESK setup.
Another solution that works is to use subdomains for the other applications, since I can configure the subdomains folders to lie outside httpdocs, but thats also not so elegant.

Is there a better solution?

Greetings,

Simon Egli
