/tmp installer bug

HostaHost

Regular Pleskian
If /tmp doesn't have permissions 1777 installation will fail since the installer does not bother to check if the permissions necessary to complete install are present even though someone took the time to add in a nice error message telling you your permissions are not comptaible with the install:

Code:
/tmp should have at least 777 file access permissions.
Run 'chmod 1777 /tmp' as root to set up proper file access permissions.

**** Product prep-install failed.

ERROR: An error occurred during performing of installation PREP actions (see log for details). Installation was rolled back.
Warning! Not all packages were installed.

Please resolve this issue and try installing the packages again.
If you cannot resolve the issue on your own, contact product technical support for assistance.

So of course at this point the install has already modified a bunch of the config files on the server, who knows what has been completed and has not been completed, and if my experience with plesk is any indicator, better to just wipe the whole server out and start over since a failed install now tends to result in nightmare upgrades later.

My suggestion would be to check for these things in advance instead of after already installing half the packages.
