Resolved Upgrading MySQL safely..

Hi I have vBulletin hosted and I wish to update my MySQL so I can use the latest one..

is there a safe way so we don't loose the database as its a very big size... obviously we will backup before but just wanted to know the safest way.

A direct upgrade from 5.1 to a new version will not work. This needs to be done in several steps. Please refer to this article that explains it:
