using separate stmp and pop3 servers-mailbox unavailable or not local

New Pleskian
Hello,
I would like to ask for help with the following problem. We have a single domain which is running a windows server 2008 r2 VPS with plesk 10.4.
We would like to use our own server as a stmp server only (without creating mailboxes, as we have little disk space and we'll run out). We are currently using our domain maintainer's email servers to host mailboxes, mailing lists, etc, and it works fine (if you are wondering why we don't use our maintainer's stmp server, it's because its shared and it gets frequently blacklisted for spam).
We have therefore enabled the stmp server and created a single email user, which we use to log onto the stmp server. It works fine, except when we try to send emails to our own domain - in this case we get a mailbox unavailable or not local error. Searching on the forum we found an advice to disable mail.
We cannot disable mail, else the stmp server will also go down. We need to find a way to keep the stmp server running but tell the server that it should not look for the recipient mailbox on localhost.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Mauro
