YUM to install mod_security?

How do I install mod_security using yum? I prefer to keep everything updated using YUM because it is so easy.

Have you tried 'yum install mod_security'? Of course you need to have a repository configured that carries a mod_security package. What OS are you running?

I did try using yum to install mod_security but it did not work. I am using CentOS 4. What is a good repository to use for this?

I can't seem to find a repository that has the latest version of mod_security (2.1.2). The ModSecurity download page has a link to somebody's yum repository, but that one has 2.1.1. You might just want to build from source anyway (and subscribe to the announce mailinglist to stay up to date).

You could also take a look Atomic Secured Linux, the subscription yum channel over at Atomic Rocket Turtle which includes mod_security (plus a lot of rules) and a whole lot of other security tools customised especially for Plesk servers.

I went and got the ASL subscription but now I have to find the documentation on installing it.

Thanks, I sent them an email. Scott was getting on a plane when I spoke with him over IM so it may be a while. Thanks for the help guys. i am sure that as soon as I get this ASL going things will be great.

I believe it's just 'yum install asl' or something, but Scott will be able to tell you all about it. :)
