Once again, we are faced with Plesk's absurd price hikes—complete with their so-called “innovative” features that nobody asked for. Neither we, as Plesk partners, nor our clients (server owners, resellers, and hosting customers) find any value in these changes.
It speaks volumes that Plesk and its employees remain utterly silent. Over 40 emails have been sent to various contacts, including WebPros, CVC Fund, and even their CEOs. What have we received in return? A grand total of
one phone call from a Plesk account manager, promising an email follow-up that, unsurprisingly, never materialized. Almost two weeks later, here we are, with no response. This lack of accountability has become Plesk’s trademark.
The sole "active" employee on the Plesk forums is a community manager whose only skill seems to be copy-pasting the same canned responses. Suggestions for improvement? What a joke! Plesk is a rudderless ship, led by a captain without vision or common sense, steering recklessly toward the cliffs. With the current trajectory, this ship is destined to sink, and it's sinking faster every day. Thankfully, more individuals and companies are waking up and jumping ship before it’s too late.
A Grim Reality for Plesk Partners and Clients
Take us as an example: as a Plesk Partner (a title that used to mean something but now means absolutely nothing), we managed over 400 Plesk licenses. A small portion is used for our own shared hosting servers. While the
insane price hikes hurt, we can still absorb those costs—for now. But for our clients with small VPS servers, often hosting just over 10 domains, the story is very different. These clients are forced to upgrade to the Plesk Web Pro Edition, paying nearly
double for their Plesk license compared to the cost of the entire VPS itself!
To add insult to injury, when they contact us about these ludicrous price increases, we direct them straight to Plesk. Why? Because Plesk, not us, is responsible for this disgraceful price gouging. We’re done being the middleman for their unethical business practices.
As for clients with 30 or more domains? They’re financially stuck with the Plesk Web Host Edition, an overpriced license with no viable alternatives. Many of these clients have canceled their servers entirely. Thankfully, we've managed to save some by offering alternative solutions, but let’s be clear: this is despite Plesk, not because of it.
The Myth of "Improvements"
And about those so-called "improvements" the community manager keeps touting—don’t make us laugh. For example, the
migration bug (
Password-protected root directories for domains are not migrated in Plesk for Linux) has been around for over two years! It was promised to be fixed in “future updates,” but guess what? It’s still broken. Instead of fixing long-standing issues, Plesk spends its time adding useless junk nobody asked for. The interface is now a bloated, sluggish mess. Features like the “Active List” are removed entirely, the admin login screen is a disaster, and ModSecurity barely works.
Let’s not forget: OpenLiteSpeed? Missing. Performance optimizations? Absent. What Plesk does offer is more
bloatware than anyone could ever need. It’s as slow as molasses in January.
The Final Straw
What’s most infuriating is that nobody at Plesk seems to care. Complaints fall on deaf ears, and the company is completely unresponsive. It’s clear that everyone at Plesk knows the ship is sinking. As a partner, we used to believe this disaster would unfold by 2026, but at the current rate, it’ll likely happen next year.
We’re not waiting around to watch this shipwreck. We've already begun exploring and testing alternative solutions. Yes, it’s cost us time and money, but Plesk’s yearly increases are even more outrageous. Combined with rising costs for rack space, bandwidth, external backups, and electricity, the hosting industry is becoming more expensive by the day. Yet Plesk feels entitled to slap on price increases of
over 45% for Web Pro Edition and
over 50% for Web Host Edition. It’s nauseating.
A Sinking Ship
Plesk has made the hosting industry less enjoyable and far less healthy for everyone. Their disgusting practices make us sick—literally. So thank you, Plesk, for ruining what used to be a thriving ecosystem with your greed and incompetence. Keep it up, and we’ll see you at the bottom of the ocean.
