  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question New ImunifyAV extension a massive setback?

I get the impression, that the new ImunifyAV extension is massive step back in terms of usability, compared to the old, deprecated one.

In the old extension it was possible to link the extension to service plans, so we could have plans with customers who had access to the extension, while other (cheaper) plans had not. It seems like it isn't possible anymore.
Even the interface for the customers themselves seems missing. In the old extension they could open the interface (with the right service plan) and trigger scans or see which files were infected. I can't see an option like this in the new one.
And notifications are also missing (the already exsiting threads in this forum only point to the option of executing custom scripts)

I really hope I am just missing the right configuration options, but as it looks now, this is really unsatisfying.
What are your opinions on this matter?

Hello, @Martin.B

Could you please confirm what version of Imunify (i.e. the free one, ImunifyAV+, Imunify360 etc.) you are currently utilizing so I can double-check?

Regarding the notifications, CloudLinux is currently actively working on improving that and integrating the possibility to notify users for security issues. The ETA is the end of Q2.
At present, with Imunify, you can set up your custom script for notification.

Hi, we are using the one with the SKU: PLSK-EXT-RAV-PRE-M, which chould be ImunifyAV+

Thank you, @Martin.B . I will confirm that with our team and get back to you with more clarity in the upcoming days. I appreciate your patience in advance.

@Martin.B , thank you for your questions. Regarding the possibility of linking the extension to to service plans, our team requested the implementation of the feature back from CloudLinux. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any firm answer on whether and when will that happen exactly. I will provide more details as soon as we have confirmation from their end. About the Imunify interface on customer level, it should still be present in the right-hand side menu. Let me know if that's not what you see on your end.
Also, please let me know if I am missing something or if any further details are needed.

Yes it seems to be a complete downgrade. Customers are now spammed with purchasing the Imunify360 version. It's ridiculous. It's like buying a new car and your windshield is full of stickers telling you that you can also buy winter tires at the same garage. Plesk seriously becoming bloatware.

I have recommended our customers to look for an alternative or use Maldet or whatever. Customers do not like bloatware. And this is exactly the point that Plesk is getting worse and worse by the day unfortunately.

I would like to mention that СloudLinux is the vendor of the extension and they choose its development path and functionality to be included. Our team is in constant communication with them and are doing their best to arrange the implementation of features considered important to our users. However, at the end of the day, this is not completely under our control.

Customers are now spammed with purchasing the Imunify360 version.

If you would like to provide more details about what section you are referring to I will be happy to forward the feedback to our team and they can discuss the possibility of making that more discrete.

I already created a ticket for this issue, because we now have several Plesk server customers who are experiencing this bloatware. Currently it's being forwarded to CloudLinux. No clue when or if this will be resolved though.

Indeed the extension is in the right-hand side menu. Didn't notice it immediately, since this menu seems to be invisible by default and I searched the extension in the left-side menu.

However the other points still remain.

Meanwhile:
This is to let you know that we have heard from the higher ups on Monday, and it's been advised that

No ETA for this at the moment. We are working on this and announce ETA later.

Your patience is highly appreciated!

Probably there will be a paid option for 0.99 USD per month to remove the bloatware, if I know Plesk. ;-)
But more seriously; I doubt this will be changed anytime soon... But the old ImunifyAV(+) was excellent and easy / understandable to use. Also the interface was much faster; the new only is filled with bloatware and is very clunky.
