  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Plesk DNSOnly

AsimZeeshan

New Pleskian
My first time using Plesk11 (I have been using numerous other panels since long) The issue is that I cant seem to find a DNSOnly version of Plesk so now im left with two options

1) Hacks such as http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?99997-HOWTO-Plesk-DNS-Replication-to-external-Servers

2) Request two IPs on the same box and create my NS1/NS2 which is neither recommended nor provides a failsafe

What I want to do?

Get NS1 on primary box (running Plesk11) and get NS2 on a separate box in a new geo-location

Does anyone have experience how to configure DNSOnly boxes using Plesk11? Please help, Google was not much help

http://www.parallels.com/products/plesk-automation/ is the answer.

This is a really cool product from Parallels. All you need is an Unlimited Plesk key on the "everything" node (when you'll effectively have a full Plesk installation running, plus management for PPA), and then you can set up a DNS node for no extra charge. It doesn't get better than that in terms of cost :)

Contact your Sales rep about this for more info. I think it whould be exactly what you need if I've understood your post correctly.

By "DNS Only version" do you mean run ONLY DNS services?

If this is the case, then why in the world do you need Plesk to run ONLY DNS services on a server?

I have a Plesk 100 domains license; will it not work?

No, you are wrong. Im talking about creating NS2 on a seperate machine much like cPanel's DNSOnly, if you are familiar with it
