Question Massive price increase for reseller licenses?

1 - Complexity of administration
Well, in my opinion LVM management is one of the absolute basic skills that everybody who is allowed to log in as root on a server should have
2 - Harder to recover data if a disk fail
If you need to "recover data" when one disk fails then you have a serious problem with your setup ;) A disk failure should never have any impact on your data. Proper RAID setup is the key here.
3 - Efficiency drop
Any hard facts? LVM performance impact is negligible (unless you're using LVM snapshots)
4 - Downtime (or minimum but is there)
Downtime? There is no downtime with LVM operations (resize etc.). Au contraire, you have less downtime with LVM as it abstracts and encapsulates the underlying physical hard disks and you can add disks/partitions/volume groups online. I never experience one single minute of downtime because of LVM.
BTW: A good read about LVM: Logical Volume Manager (LVM) versus standard partitioning in Linux

Regarding your setup with HDD + SSD + NVMe: True, Plesk can't handle this. You may want to create a feature request at Feature Suggestions: Top (2051 ideas) – Your Ideas for Plesk for this. But I think this is a very specific feature that not many people will use, so I fear chances are slim that this is ever going to be implemented.

I would rather create 3 VMs on 3 different storages and then let your customers pick their desired storage speed, like "Bronze" (HDD), "Silver" (SSD), "Gold" (NVMe), each with different pricing ;)

We can continue this discussion ad infinitum. You trying to justify a commercial decision (that's what I think) of Plesk and me trying to justify my point of view thinking about my profit and economy.
I have no complaints about Plesk, it is the system I use in several projects, but this feature (which has even been put to a vote) would add great value, but a feature that has 10 years as the most voted feature has not yet been implemented which is sync in fail over scenario. Last week a Plesk server that I administered went down for hours, although there were backups to get an emergency server up it would take hours where several sites including ecommerce had reasonable losses.

And yes... Plesk has announced a new price increase/hike again for January 2023!

They do not care the world is on fire, or about power/gas fees. If, for us, the power fees are not killing our company (almost 1 Euro for each kWh overhere for the 4th quarter this year), then Plesk will kill our company.

Plesk is becoming a synonym for greed. Plain and simple.

And "ofcourse" the price increase/hike is justified by Plesk, because their software / control panel is getting more and more advanced each year. Yeah right. The UI is becoming terrible (and slow from time to time). You cannot even install the latest Magento through the application selection. And so on. The most used stuff is being ignored and more nonsense is added. Also support is going downhill fast as of late; simpel answers (until you push them), delayed answers (takes several hours instead within the hour, like in the past).

It seems this is a new trend for Plesk; increasing their prices every single year. I doubt Plesk will exist is a few years if they keep this up. WHMCS (also owned by the same investment group; Oakley Capital) did the same; massive price increase. Just take a look at their forum now. WHMCS is almost dead. Those investment groups are killing the good products. And if they are making lossess they will simply drop it or sell it to another company.

These are terrible times to keep your head above the water with all the costs rising and the customers want to pay less and less... We already lost quite a few customers because the increased prices. Might as well throw in the towel soon if this keeps up. In the near future you will only have Amazon, Google and those other companies with their own power plants. And guess what then will happen? Prices will increase again, but this time for all customers...

Oh well...

We just received their email on yet another price increase. This was the "final straw" for us. We scheduled a meeting and decided we are moving away from Plesk completely.

They increased their price several times with no real and objective advantage for end users.

Let me put it bluntly: I am not against business development and price increases. But when a company increases prices several times (WAY BEFORE crisis) with no objective justification, no real features (we literally never used any new "feature"), and then they do it again in a way which is absurdly higher than anyone else on this planet - I perceive this as they are toying with me and my business.

Simply put I feel as if they think we are complete idiots. I rarely use the words "greed" but it is what it is.

We are NOT going to pay 192,5 EUR for one Plesk license because for a MUCH lower price I can order MANAGED servers even and select cPanel and pay for this on a yearly basis. At a cheaper rate.

So TLDR: it was good when it lasted.

Yeah, I will record this as well. I am seeing a trend as well. Negative opinions are being deleted.

Well, I'm very comfortable with PLESK, although I am using other free panels on other systems at the same time.
I am not paying the full blast so I'm happy with that, as with our purchasing power dwindling MUCH faster than practically any other country in the world, we would not be able to convince any customer to pay a premium for the panel - most of them do not use the panel anyway.
However if business keeps at this rate, it may not be possible to finance PLESK much longer..

Exactly that. That's what I was trying to say as well.

We are also not paying the full amount, however when you have over 200 Plesk licenses each increase is a hit in the stomache. Especially in these harsh financial times. But like always and before; Plesk does not care about this.

Also in the meantime, Plesk is luring regular customers by offering them a 10% discount...
...though we Plesk partners are getting scammed by the price increase. Great.

It really seems that Plesk does not care about their partners at all anymore!

Edit: funny side note; I created my signature 1 or 2 years ago, seems it's 100% correct!!

We are going to merge several Plesk servers to one big server. This will save us a lot of money on the Plesk licenses.
And when there are issues, we will create a support ticket with Plesk and they can solve the issue. Probably will take them much more time and effort.

So far we are planning to merge 40 servers to 4 seperate servers. That change would safe us a significant amount of money on the Plesk licenses.

I like to work with Plesk, It's very comfortable. It's a pity they raised their prices so much. Don't know if my company will go on to use it.

Announcement also online: Plesk Price Adjustment 2023 - FAQ Online Customers
This announcement will be changed for every year, so for future price increases:

You can bookmark those URL's, as it will happen every year now!

Thank you for sharing! Very good and useful document.

I don't think Plesk announced it yet, but based on the old price increases (which are now happening every year apparently), I decided to change the old URL for the upcoming year and it worked. Since Plesk's new approach is to increase pricing every year, I decided to also add the future URL's.

I will also quote a passage from the first price increase (2020-2021):
Please note that we did not increase our prices for the last three years.

And further down that same news messsage:
As a consequence, we may make further price adjustments to be able to deliver our customers with outstanding value and an exceptional product for the price paid.

I doubt with the current pricing (and the new price increase again) it's still considered as an "outstanding value" and also much needed / requested features are not being added (or completely ignored at all) so to consider this as an "exceptional product for the price paid" is also not that relevant anymore.

Also, as mentioned before, support is also getting a bit worse. Support tickets are handled slowly e.g. several hours pass before someone decides to follow up on the support ticket (even if it's urgent). And on other days you get very simplistic answers as being pointed to a KB article which does not help. Or that we have to hire a security company to secure Plesk.

Based on the above and my personal experience (and from what I read on other forums about Plesk) I really do not think it's justified to increase all Plesk pricing again. We already put our a message on our own websites informing our Plesk (server) customers about the new price increase and they mostly responded very unhappy about this increase. Especially considering the "world is on fire" and everything is getting more and more expensive. Just consider electricity prices... Yikes. We already are charging customers extra for the increased price of electricity (we have to, otherwise it will be very hard to keep it all up), but now Plesk price increase is yet another nail in the coffin it seems...

However Plesk will roll-out the price increase nevetheless. The time that Plesk really, really cared about their customers and partners died when Oakley Capital took over Plesk under their WebPros portfolio.

This is a hefty price increase for the fact that we are more and more a betatester. I use Plesk since version 7.5 and I have never complained that Plesk is always more faulty. I will therefore not participate in such a price increase!

I do not need any support, but if Plesk delivers faulty versions then already - but for this so much more to pay is derision.

Our Plesk partner did just send us the information about the new prices starting from 01/2023 onwards. For us the license costs will increase between 12 and 22% depending on the edition used. We really hope that the extra money is used to make Plesk more stable. There are a lot of open bug reports and some core functionalities really need more attention to make the life of Plesk admins less stressful.

I wish Plesk would pause the development of new features and focus a couple of months on the outstanding bugs.
For instance, why does it take years to solve this bug?
